Hotel Cattaro

This hotel is active in the preservation of the historic and cultural heritage of Old Kotor.

Hotel Cattaro is located in the centre of Kotor in the building that is actually a part of the  city wall around the old town, left from the main city gate. This hotel is perfectly adapted in the environment and is in accordance with the architectural style of the historic core of the town. Minimal changes were made during the opening process of this hotel and the changes that were actually made were for the purpose of improvement and renovation of this space. The Old Town of Kotor is one of the rare towns that has preserved it's fortification system. Kotor is under the protection of UNESCO as a part of cultural and historical heritage. For this reason the authorities of the Municipality of Kotor are very careful about issuing the licences for construction in the Old Town  and are very sensitive regarding any changes of original sites. The owners of hotel Catarro respect all the procedures for protection of historic and cultural heritage during the adaptation of this site that was used as theatre during Napoleon's rule. Hotel Cattaro is proof that modern tourism and tradition do not have to collide, but instead can coexist on many different levels as means of benefiting the local inhabitants.
