Traditional summer carnival of Kotor descended from Renaissance Venice. The 8th International Summer Kotor Carnival is one of the most popular and visited carnival in the region. This year carnival will take place from 5th till 7th August. Great number of masks and music groups from Montenegro town will take part as every year in the carnival procession as well as groups from Italy, Greece, Slovenia, Croatia, Sweden, Germany and other countries. Also important to mention is that Kotor has been a member of FECC (Foundation of European Carnival Cities) since 2000.
